At Food Allergy Institute, we believe in making real and tangible actions in the fight against injustices in our society. In June 2020, Dr. Inderpal Randhawa, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of TPIRC and the Food Allergy Institute, has seeded a new grant program with a gift of $50,000 that will help broaden access to the Tolerance Induction Program (TIP)™ to children in the Black community. With the support of the community, the fund now stands at over $100,000.
Currently, out of Food Allergy Institute’s nearly 10,000 patients, only 1 to 2 percent are Black, while several nationwide studies have shown that Black children are 4 to 5 times as likely to have, and 3 to 4 as likely to die from food anaphylaxis. Helping children, regardless of race or color, achieve food freedom through our Tolerance Induction Program™ (TIP) is essential to our mission.
Our Diversity Grant Fund seeks to strengthen access to health care for Black children and their families. We improve the lives of these patients by helping to close the gap in severe food allergies care through our Tolerance Induction Program™ (TIP).
We use effective, innovative approaches to the treatment of rare diseases like food anaphylaxis to empower families, build partnerships, and expand the capacity of Food Allergy Institute to create real, lasting change.
Through seed funding by TPIRC and Food Allergy Institute Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Inderpal Randhawa, and our generous supporters we have raised enough to fund our Diversity Grant Fund. This fund is designed to provide financial assistance to Black families with children suffering from food anaphylaxis.
*Acceptance of the grant is also contingent on the patient medically cleared as a candidate for Tolerance Induction Program™.
**Length of treatment is determined after a treatment plan has been developed.
We will be reviewing applications on a quarterly basis and until the grant’s funds are exhausted.

Grants will be $1,000 per child and will be deducted from their Food Allergy Institute account. Funds will not be distributed directly to the patient’s family. Funds will be distributed on a yearly basis per patient. Applicants may reapply every year for consideration.
